More about Life on the Moon:
Life on the Moon is a socio-political family drama about a young man named Spencer returning home from the military for Christmas. His sister, Piper, who is autistic, is highly attuned to how Spencer’s behavior has changed since his last visit, but struggles to articulate what she’s noticing.
Life on the Moon received its professional debut at the Detroit Repertory Theatre during their 2022-2023 season. This script won the 2017 Inkslinger Playwright Contest and the 2017 Triad Shakes Theatre's New Play Award. Other accolades include placing as a finalist for the 2023 Judith Royer Excellence in Playwriting award, a semi-finalist for Southwest Theatre Productions' 2020 Play With A Male Lead Contest, and a semi-finalist for Meditative Writing's 2023 Playwriting Fellowship. Excerpts of the play have been featured in American Theatre magazine's podcast "The Subtext," Smith & Kraus' Best Male Monologues of 2023 anthology, and the literary journal Wordgathering. The full text is also published in McGraw's 12 Plays/2500 Years anthology. Life on the Moon has been produced by and received development through several universities, among them New York University's Gallatin Theatre Troupe, Southeastern Louisiana University, and the University of New Orleans.
