Iphigenia Rules GreciPark

by Anna Tatelman

In this revisioning of Iphigenia, Greece has become GreciPark, a nation that typically keeps its citizens peaceful through vicarious forms of violence. These citizens, however, have begun to thirst once more for real acts of cruelty and pain, namely in the form of murdering their leader’s daughter.

"This script is really tackling some complex issues related to stuff like beauty, suffering, art/simulation. There is some deep interesting stuff beneath a comic veneer. Nicely done."

Bryon Reiger
playwright and Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions, University of New Orleans's English Department

"[The] dialogue is crisp, the structure is clear, the characters are flawed and therefore entirely relatable in their own unique ways, and motives are defined but never obtrusively delineated. This is a delicately balanced, carefully composed script, and I very much enjoyed reading it. What is especially exceptional about this piece is that nothing feels extraneous in any way, shape or form – every moment, every musing, every diversion, oddly enough, is instrumental in moving either the action or the audience's understanding of the action forward in some essential and definable way."
