Staged Reading of Commissioned Short Play "Beat Your Own Drum"

Hey Puget Sound fam, it’s time to get those Halloween vibes on! I'm delighted to announce that I'm returning to Drunken Owl Theatre for my next theatre project. They'll be doing a staged reading of my short play "Beat Your Own Drum," a comedy about a bunch of fairytale baddies at a meeting of Villains Anonymous, as part of their Spooky Season festival of plays, poems, and songs on Sunday October 18th (one night only!).

As If Theatre orginally commissioned "Beat Your Own Drum" for their 2023 Kenmore Quickies and produced the world premiere. Since then it's been shown at a few schools across the country, but this will be the script's first time returning to a Washingtonian stage.

I'm honored to have the awesome Sumant Mani Gupta directing my piece featuring the acting talents of Nicole Lockett, Jerry Stein, Ken Kavin, and Brandy Briones. Playwrights Barbara Lindsay, Romney Humphrey, and Elena Naskova will also have pieces in the festival; Mary Ellen Talley and Michael G. Hickey will read poetry; and Leatherwood & Company will provide the music.

Doors open Sunday 10/18 4:30pm at the Jules Maes Saloon and the show starts at 5pm. Advanced tickets are a mere $10 (door tickets are $15) and available now at Drunken Owl Theatre’s website. I'd love to see y'all there for some spooky silly shenanigans!
