When: August 11th-13th (Friday at 7:30, Saturday at 2:00 and 7:30, Sunday at 5:00)
Where: Kenmore Community Club (7304 NE 175th St, Kenmore, WA)
What: I was invited to write a brand-new ten-minute play for the third annual "Kenmore Quickie" festival of new plays run by As If Theatre!! Seven other playwrights were also asked to do the same. All of the new plays were inspired by visual artworks submitted by local artists, which we were randomly assigned to. We were also randomly assigned our directors and actors!
I can't say too much about my new play because . . . well, part of the fun of the event is the element of surprise. But I don't think anyone will be surprised to hear that it's a play that explores ethical conundrums through my usual oddball sense of humor. ;)
My play was inspired by a lovely work of art made by Bex Worrich. My delightful director is Terry Boyd and my fabulous actors are Jay Vilhauer, Tina Devrin, Christina Williams, and Jennifer Nielsen (sidebar, I was the only playwright randomly assigned to write a play for four performers -- every other play has two or three. I loved this part of the challenge!).
How do I attend? Tickets are available now and are only $20! You can buy them right here.
